New triple-album TRAVEL POEMS captures the mood of losing oneself in faraway places

Featuring 30 original songs recorded on pianos across 4 continents, New York City composer/pianist Eric Pan makes his artist debut – TRAVEL POEMS – shaping music & narrative soundscapes into a teleportation device, facilitating expeditions even for those stuck at home.

Made in collaboration with virtuoso sound engineer Brian Trahan (Kelly Moran), TRAVEL POEMS is already garnering interviews and exclusives in JAZZIZ Magazine, on-air with Public Radio International, and others. Chapter 1 is out Aug 28 -- then a world-release of concerts+exhibits in Berlin, New York City, and Taipei, alongside Chapters 2 and 3 this Fall.

Eric Pan releases his first single “Foot of the Carpathians” on Jul 31. Influenced by the craftsmanship of Ali Farka Touré and Bill Evans, Pan recorded the track in intimate dialogue with his drummer and bassist, showcasing the song’s diverse origins from travels with Ukrainian nomads.

Eric Pan describes the song as a postcard of love, celebrating ironclad bonds between friends, the exuberance of exploration, and the wilderness of the Carpathian Mountains -- triggering deep, universal emotions of loneliness and mortality. Stories behind each TRAVEL POEMS track reflect where they were written and recorded. Initial recordings were chosen over studio takes in order to freeze-capture authenticity and meaning.

Following a decade’s tenure as a New York City jazz pianist and composer, including performances with Jeff Hamilton, Roy Hargrove, and John Patitucci, Pan’s compositions and improvisations reveal a relentless pursuit of simplicity, craft, and universality.
